Savannah Parsons (Bellevue HS) learned CPR as part of her training in the Medical Careers program at EHOVE. While working a shift at Circle K in Bellevue, Parsons put her newly acquired skills into action for a customer that needed CPR.
Parsons and another customer, Amber Spoerr of Bellevue, alternated performing CPR on the customer until emergency medical personnel arrived.
“It’s not where I thought I’d perform CPR for someone the first time,” Parsons said. “Learning it from my teacher at EHOVE definitely helped me know how to handle it for real.”
It turns out that Spoerr is a 2003 alumna of EHOVE Medical Careers (as Amber Holzhauer), and her daughter, Mikayla Herman, is a junior in the program.
Parsons plans to attend Terra State Community College and become a pediatric nurse. Spoerr is currently working as a nurse.
