Health Science:  HEALTH TECH TECH PREP

Collaborative Program of EHOVE Career Center and BGSU/Firelands College

Program Highlights:

• Apply advanced health care concepts, processes and diagnostic procedures in a clinical environment
• Explore medical professions using a college science curriculum
• Flexible college scheduling with individualized health career focus


    


Head Start on Associate and Bachelor Degrees:

The Health Technician Program offers training in health care concepts and the academic courses that can be used in preparation for degrees in health medical fields.  This program offers excellent career opportunities as well as solid preparation for:

  • Respiratory Therapy
  • Health Information Technology
  • Nursing
  • Medical Assistant
  • Radiographer
  • Dental Hygienist
  • Physicians/Surgical Assistant
    and many more . . .     

Personal Qualities:

  • Self-motivated/self-starter
  • Organized
  • A sincere interest in a medical profession

 Equipment Students Will Use:

  • Pulse oximeter
  • Basic patient care equipment
  • EKG machine
  • Computers

TECH PREP Acceptance Guidelines:

For acceptance into the Health Tech TECH PREP program, you should have:

  • A strong interest in health care professions
  • Junior status at your high school
  • “C” average or better in Algebra and Science
  • 2.5 or better overall Grade Point Average (GPA)
  • Recommendation of high school Counselor or Principal
  • Interest in post secondary technical education

Final acceptance is determined through an interview with TECH PREP staff members and acceptable scores on College Placement Tests.

Get Involved

Health Careers students will become members of Skills USA VICA, an association of trades and industry students.  Skills USA VICA allows students to participate in competitive events, fund-raisers, community service projects and social chapter activities.
