Keep your eye on the prize

EHOVE Career Center will give away a car to one lucky student as part of its Perfect Attendance Initiative.  But wait, there’s more!  Students can also win big prizes for perfect attendance each week, each quarter, and at the end of the semester.  The prizes include MP3 players, iPods, gift cards, Wii game system and Guitar Hero.

Students qualify as having perfect attendance if they have no absences (excused or unexcused, except for school-related activities), no tardies, and no suspensions.  Drawings will be made weekly, quarterly and yearly.

Getting a chance to win is simple, if students follow the basics.  Be here, be on time, and make good decisions.  Assistant Principal Rod Smith said, “Good attendance is the first step to a successful education as well as employment.  The attendance initiative provides an incentive for students to create and achieve short term attendance goals for themselves, with the hope that they will see the long term positive effects for themselves and the business/company of which they will someday be a part.”

On February 16 at 2:25 pm in the Commons, students from all classes will be present to find out who will win a 1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.  Five seniors had perfect attendance all last year through the first semester of this year, and therefore have qualified for the drawing:

Sara Hugo-Vermilion High, Jennifer Franklin-New London High School, Joseph Fowler-Perkins High School, Justin Twary-South Central High School, and Nicholas Gebele-Huron High School

Assistant Director Mark Ringlein said, “EHOVE’s attendance incentives are a great way to reward students who are demonstrating a commitment to their future by coming to school regularly. Our advisory members and business partners routinely tell us that workplace skills like punctuality and attendance are very important to them.”
