EHOVE Teacher Academy
Collaborative Program of EHOVE Career Center and BGSU/Firelands College
The Teacher Academy is a senior-only program designed for
students planning to pursue a teaching degree in college.
The academy will include the following components:
- Course instruction related to child development, learning theory, teaching techniques, and classroom management
- Pre-college observation hours at area elementary, middle, and high schools
- College partnership that will provide a pathway from high school to college and the teacher education field
Course Competencies:
Workplace Learning Opportunities: All Teacher Academy students will be assigned internships in the associate schools. These experiences will change approximately every three weeks and will include exposure to multiple age levels and subject areas, including early childhood, middle childhood, high school, special education, and career technical education. Assessment Project: The capstone project of the Teacher Academy will be the completion of a senior portfolio and the presentation of the portfolio to an authentic audience. The portfolio assessment will be organized according to the four domains of teaching. Teacher Academy Admission Requirements:
