Adult Nursing Students Receive Diplomas
June 23, 2009
Sandi Foster, retired former
Vice President of Nursing at Fremont Memorial and Providence
hospitals was the featured speaker at the graduation ceremony of
the EHOVE School of Practical Nursing. Commencement for the 83
students from the part time and full time classes was held June 23,
at the Ernsthausen Performing Arts Center at Norwalk High
School.
This was the eighteenth full-time, tenth part-time evening class
and sixth part time day class of the EHOVE School of Practical
Nursing to complete the course, which successfully meets the
standards as set by the Ohio Board of Nursing and the EHOVE Board
of Education.
Students received clinical
experience at various affiliated facilities located as far east as
Lorain, and as far west as Oak Harbor. Successful completion of the
nursing program in an approved school entitles the graduate to take
examinations administered by the Ohio Board of Nursing to become a
Licensed Practical Nurse.
Several awards were given, including valedictorian and the Heather
Richards Clinical Excellence Award. Two other awards, the Helen
Noble Memorial Award, and an award given by the Licensed Practical
Nursing Association, were also announced.
The Helen Noble Memorial Award, selected by faculty, is awarded to
the student who best exemplified the characteristics of
dependability, trustworthiness, kindness, empathy and cheerfulness.
The LPN Association award is presented to the student who
demonstrated enthusiasm, a positive attitude and a sincere interest
in the improvement of the profession. * Denotes National Technical
Honor Society.
