Lions Club Awards Adult Education Scholarship
March 12, 2009
The Lions Club of Norwalk
awarded a $300 scholarship from the K. Stone Flickinger Memorial
Fund to adult nursing student Kate Stevenson, Greenwich.
As a gesture of their dedication to training, the Norwalk Lions
Club has pledged a total of $1,500 for scholarships to be
distributed in $300 increments over the next five years.
The Lions Club Scholarship augments the EHOVE Ghrist Adult Career
Center Adult Education Staff Scholarship Fund. Monies come from
donations made by staff members and former students. The
scholarships go to students who demonstrate need, a solid work
history and strong academic accomplishments.
Kate Stevenson, the mother of three grown children, attends school
part time and works part time at Dr Kafity's office in Norwalk. She
started nursing school more than 20 years ago, but didn’t finish
due to family obligations. She returned to school four years ago
and graduated from EHOVE’s Phlebotomy program, with a long-term
goal of graduating from the LPN program.
The EHOVE Ghrist Adult Full Service Center is fully accredited by
the North Central Association (NCA) of Colleges and Universities.
Accreditation by the NCA means the school has met the high
standards for membership, standards which signify the school has
the resources, personnel and leadership for effective
education.
