EHOVE Cosmetology student Maddelyn Hemingway (Huron HS) has always wanted to go to Disney World.  Thanks to to Make-A-Wish  She and her family will be traveling to Disney World later this year.

Hemingway was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system that deteriorates one’s immune system.  Despite exhausting months of chemotherapy and upcoming radiation treatments, she looks forward.  After high school, Hemingway plans to get a business management degree to combine with her cosmetology skills and open her own salon.

EHOVE Administrative Assistant Kathy Schenk and recently retired school nurse Pam Benedict nominated Hemingway through Make-A-Wish.  Schenk discussed the idea with Benedict after being strongly encouraged by her best friend who had a wonderful experience with the organization.  “We just wanted to do something for Maddelyn,” said Schenk.  “It it went through, it’d be such a great memory for her and her family.”

“I wasn’t expecting it,” said Hemingway.  “It was a huge surprise and I was jumping for joy when my mom told me.  I’m a Disney kid at heart.  It means a lot to my whole family because we don’t really go on vacations.”
