Article Published: 04/29/2016

EHOVE students did a great job showcasing their abilities at the SkillsUSA Ohio State competition that was held on April 26 in Columbus.  Their hard work and advanced knowledge showed as they earned nine gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze.  See the results.

The nine gold medalists have also advanced to the national competition this June in Kentucky.  Additionally, Medical Careers student Shalim Magda (Western Reserve HS) was elected to the SkillsUSA state officer position of Historian.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce.  The Ohio chapter provides its 31,500+ career-technical education members, which includes many EHOVE students, the opportunity to participate in local, regional, state and national competitive events, and encourages students to give back to the community through various community service activities.

EHOVE students have several reasons for participating in SkillsUSA and the competitions.  The leadership opportunities, community service work, chance to apply the career field skills they’ve learned, and professional connections and opportunities are some examples.
