SkillsUSA State Competition Results
EHOVE students did an exceptional job showcasing their abilities at the SkillsUSA Ohio Championships on April 14 & 15. 78 students attended the competition with 67 competing and 11 acting as voting delegates, models or observers.
Eight students earned gold medals, four students earned silver medals and six students earned bronze medals in their competitions that were against students from career centers throughout Ohio. The gold medal winners have qualified them to advance to the National Championships in Louisville, Kentucky this June.
SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. The Ohio chapter provides its 31,500+ career-technical education members, which includes many EHOVE students, the opportunity to participate in local, regional, state and national competitive events, and encourages students to give back to the community through various community service activities.
EHOVE students have several reasons for participating in SkillsUSA and the competitions. The leadership opportunities, community service work, chance to apply the career field skills they’ve learned, and professional connections and opportunities are some examples.
EHOVE Principal Dale VanLerberghe attended the state event with the students. “If anyone doubts the abilities of EHOVE students, they just need to see what they do at SkillsUSA,” he said. “Seeing EHOVE students showcasing their abilities and talents renews my belief in the fact that our youth are our future and we’re in good hands.”
