Celebrating 30 yrs of service

EHOVE Career Center’s Board President, Dr. Paul Lockwood II, was recognized by the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) for his 30 years of service as a NW Region OSBA School Board Member.  The organization honored Lockwood during its Annual NW Region Fall Conference at Penta Career Center on October 14.

“The 30 years have gone by incredibly fast and it has been a challenge to keep up with all of the changes in education during the last three decades,” said Lockwood.  “Looking back, the best part has been the people I have met.  There are many truly dedicated and talented administrators and teachers that show how much they care for kids each and every day.  Being around and getting to know these people has kept me inspired.”

Dr. Lockwood started as a board member with the Ottawa County Board of Education, later becoming Ottawa County’s representative to EHOVE.  After some mergers with other organizations, it later became known as North Point Educational Service Center (ESC).

He is also currently the treasurer for Gibsonburg Schools, the interest in which was started by his service as a board member.  Lockwood says his experience in both roles helps him to solve problems as a treasurer and provide his best to the community as a board member.

Serving must run in the family, as Lockwood’s father, also named Paul, was a member of the Benton-Carroll-Salem Board of Education for 26 years.  The Lockwoods are the only father and son to both be honored as All-Ohio School Board Members.

Lockwood isn’t the only one on EHOVE’s Board with an impressive service record.  Vice President Carole Kuns and member Gerald Beck both have each logged over 30 years as well.
