On the ball
Visual Media Tech student Coty Heim (Edison HS) created sports videos of two Edison High School students; junior Adam Wroblewski and sophomore Adam Wolf. The students collaborated to create sports videos with a goal of catching the attention of college baseball scouts to advance to the next level in their sport.

Perfect attendance car winner
Katie Martin, an EHOVE Career Center in the Early Childhood Education program was the lucky winner of a 2000 Dodge Neon today. As part of its Perfect Attendance Initiative, EHOVE rewards students who have no absences, no tardies, and no suspensions. This year, 46 EHOVE students had perfect attendance. Eight had perfect attendance for both of their years at EHOVE.

A group of EHOVE Career Center students have come out on top in their students organizations’ state competitions last month.

EHOVE’s Mavericks shine at international competition
EHOVE Career Center’s robotics team, a.k.a. Mavericks #2252, finished well at this past week’s FIRST Robotics championship competition in St. Louis. They earned their spot at the event by winning the Buckeye Regional event in Cleveland in March. Often called “Nationals,” the championships are actually an international competition drawing teams who have qualified from across the United States, Israel, Brazil, Australia and many other countries.

Students tackle distracted driving
Accidents are plentiful as the weather gets nicer and prom and graduation season approaches. Most people know someone, or at least have heard of someone, who has been injured or worse in a car accident. Unfortunately, in past years the EHOVE family (like most high schools), has also experienced tragedy in the loss of a student or loved one, due to senseless, distracted and impaired driving.

Dr. Paul R. Lockwood II, who is a 27-year veteran board member for EHOVE Career Center, a NW Region Past President and a 17-year member of the NW Region Executive Committee received the National School Boards Association Award during the spring Northwest Ohio School Board Annual Conference held at Penta Career Center on March 14.

At their annual state spring conference on March 21, the Ohio School Public Relations Association (OHSAA) recognized EHOVE Career Center’s Communications Coordinator Kendra Ward with three achievement awards. They started out great and haven’t stopped yet. Following up a good showing at their first competition in Pittsburgh, EHOVE’s Robotics Teams, a.k.a. Mavericks #2252, finished as champions from this past weekend’s FIRST Robotics Buckeye Regional competition at Cleveland State University.
