Rite of passage

The Capping Ceremony for the Part Time Day and Part Time Evening classes of the EHOVE Adult Career Center’s School of Practical Nursing was held on June 15. Capping is a right of passage for the student nurse indicating the completion of the first half of their practical nursing education.  The history of the cap dates back to Florence Nightingale.  The students each selected two guests to witness this important ceremony.

Roger Bentley, LPN, a 2011 graduate of EHOVE School of Practical Nursing, spoke to the students, lending encouragement toward their completion of the second half of their education.  Janet Ballard, Director of the EHOVE School of Practical Nursing placed the caps upon the heads of the students as Lorraine Izold, Instructor read the class rolls.
