Law and Public Safety > Emergency Medical Technician
The Emergency Medical Technician Program is the first step to a career in emergency services. Emergency Medical Technicians help protect the public against dangers by rapidly responding to a variety of emergencies. This program will help prepare students who are interested in this career field by participating in lecture, and lab sessions to cover such topics as patient assessment, airway management, trauma, medical emergencies, and more. Students also participate in a 10-hour clinical experience at local hospitals and EMS services to gain hands-on experiences.

Students will receive certifications in the following areas providing they successfully meet all requirements and pass the required exam: Emergency Medical Technician Basic Level, CPR / AED and Emergency Dispatcher.

Upon completion of program and passing scores on exams, student may earn the following certifications:

  • Emergency Medical Technician state and national certification
  • Public Dispatcher

Get Involved

Emergency Medical Technician students will become members of Skills USA VICA, an association of trades and industry students. Skills USA VICA allows students to participate in competitive events, fund-raisers, community service projects and social chapter activities.
