Interested in going into a career involving children? The Early Childhood Education program will provide the student with a background in the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social development of children. The program includes topics such as child development, guidance, curriculum development, teaching methods, nutrition, health and safety. Students gain hands-on experience in planning, conducting, and evaluating developmentally appropriate learning experiences for the preschoolers and toddlers enrolled in EHOVE’s Child Development Center licensed by the Ohio Department of Education.

A variety of work-based learning experiences are available to the Early Childhood Education students at EHOVE. These include job shadowing, guided mentorship during the summer (5th Quarter), and senior job placement. Students with high attendance and grades may be released from school to earn and learn on the job during their senior year. Completion of the two-year program earns college credit for qualifying students at Terra Community College or North Central State College.

Students receive state approved in-service training in these areas:

  • First aid and CPR Certification
  • Child Abuse Prevention and Detection Certification
  • Communicable Disease Certification
  • Clock hours toward Child Development Associates Certificate
  • Ohio Department of Education Pre-K Standards

Academic Preparation:

EHOVE keeps you on track with the academic credits you need to graduate! You will be ready to get a great job or go on to college.


Students must have a physical examination, tuberculosis test, 3 references, a signed non-conviction statement on file prior to the start of the school year, and a background check to be conducted by local law enforcement agencies.


Get Involved

Students will become members of FCCLA (Family, Careers and Community Leaders of America), an association of Family and Consumer Science students. FCCLA allows students to participate in competitive events, fund-raisers, community service projects and social chapter activities.
