Arts & Communication

  • Visual Communication Design - Design is everywhere you look. You can influence its direction by knowing a wide range of graphic processes. Experiences include freehand and computer illustration, offset press jobs and photography.
Construction Technologies

Construction Technologies

  • General Trades - Students learn the skills necessary to care for a car or home. Job placement coordinators will assist with developing work experience and job placement in a variety of jobs. Designed for students with an individual education plan.
  • Carpentry - There’s more to carpentry than driving nails! Skills in basic residential building, including concrete and foundation work, are taught. Seniors receive practical experience by building or remodeling a house.
  • Construction Trades - Senior Only Senior students have the opportunity to learn skills in four areas of construction: carpentry, electricity, masonry and welding. This preparation will provide skills needed for entry into Construction Trades.
  • Industrial Electricity - Get wired for an exciting career as an electrician by learning about residential, commercial and industrial installations. This program covers industrial motor control main power supplies as well.
Education & Training

Education & Training

  • Early Childhood Education - prepares students for careers in the teaching professions in early childhood education, and in careers that focus on working with children. Students learn theories in child development, learning styles, curriculum planning and implementation, and lesson planning. The students lead learning experiences in the Early Childhood Development Center. Students develop preschool activities based on the Ohio Department of Education Pre-k standards. Students also gain experience developing learning activities and caring for toddlers.Through an articulation agreement with North Central State College and Terra Community College, qualified students may earn up to 14 credit hours toward an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • Teacher Academy - Senior Only, Tech Prep Senior students have the opportunity to explore the teaching profession through a seminar one day a week and then hands on participation in classrooms the rest of the week in this half-day program. Learn what it is like to work with elementary, middle school, high school and adult learners. College credit may be earned through BGSU/Firelands
Health Science

Health Science

  • Health Careers - Care-giving skills offer a number of opportunities in Nurse Aide Training, direct patient care, elementary dental and medical assisting and simple lab testing. Seniors receive on-the-job paid training in health care facilities.
  • Health Tech - Tech Prep Numerous and diverse are the careers awaiting the Health Tech graduate, including respiratory therapist, nursing, physicians/medical assistant and more. Students can take the Certified Nursing Assistants test upon completion; a requirement for entering most nurses training programs.

Hospitality and Tourism

  • Hospitality - Tourism creates many career opportunities in our community. Students learn first hand hotel and restaurant operations at various community-based lab sites. Designed for students with an individual education plan.
  • Culinary Arts - Dinner for 300? It’s no problem once you learn the basics. Quantity food preparation, dining room service and restaurant management in our student-run eatery help you get a “real world” feel of the industry. National Restaurant Association certification available upon successful completion of training.

Information Technology

  • Computer Networking Technician - Tech Prep As a computer expert, the work is ever-changing and ever-challenging. Train to be an on-site troubleshooter in computer networks, wiring, hardware and computer software. Industry certification from CISCO, A+, MOUS and others are available.
  • Interactive Media Technology - Tech Prep Interactive Media Tech is a new itWorks Tech Prep program that helps students to become experts in today’s software packages. Students learn desktop publishing, digital video production and how to design web pages, placing them in high demand careers.

Law and Public Safety

  • Criminal Justice - Do you have the desire to work in the Criminal Justice field as a law enforcement officer, state police officer, private investigator or a court bailiff? The Criminal Justice program can prepare you for an exciting career in the Criminal Justice field.
  • Emergency Medical Technician - A career as an EMT could change your life! Imagine having the knowledge to save lives in all types of emergency situations! This is a rigorous course only for seniors who have the desire.
  • Firefighter - See how exciting life can be as a Fire Fighter. You will have the opportunity to be certified as a Fire Fighter in this program. You will work with area Fire Fighters and learn how to operate fire fighting equipment and the proper use of turn out gear.
  • Legal Careers - Tech Prep Legal Careers is a fascinating new program and EHOVE is proud to be the first in the state to offer it. If you have ever wanted to be an attorney, paralegal, forensic psychologist, forensic scientist, probation officer, or legal secretary, this is the program for you. We take a look at the criminal laws, civil laws, and court system. We take field trips to examine the careers in person as well as conduct mock trials to experience the careers.

Manufacturing Technologies

  • Computer Aided Design - Senior Only The CAD program is designed for students who are interested in a career in design, drafting and other careers in business and industry that use CAD systems. Lab consists of classes that deliver hands-on training in areas from basic blueprint reading to CAD and solid modeling.
  • Engineering Technician - Tech Prep Keep industry humming as you troubleshoot, repair and maintain machinery. Careers opportunities could include electrical maintenance, quality control, mechanical maintenance or CAD operator. Classes are held at BGSU/Firelands.
  • Manufacturing Technology - Mastering the precision skills required of a machinist or welder can mean instant job placement or a solid preparation for continued education. Training includes oxyacetylene welding and cutting equipment, machining, Computer Assisted Drawing and Machining (CAD/CAM), blueprint reading, drafting and tool design as related to all aspects of manufacturing.

Personal Services

  • Cosmetology - You’ve styled your family’s hair for years and now it’s time to turn your hobby into a profession by becoming a licensed cosmetologist. All aspects of face, hair and nail care are covered, preparing students for State Licensing upon program completion.
  • Retail Careers - Students with an interest in marketing and merchandising learn the world of retail by working at a variety of local stores and businesses. Customer service and employee relations are central elements. Designed for students with an individual education plan.

Transportation Systems

  • Auto Body - You take pride in your ride! This program trains you how to refinish a vehicle into an object of beauty. All aspects of refinishing, collision repair/rebuilding as well as frame straightening are taught. ASE Certified.
  • Auto Technology - Keep any vehicle roadworthy by learning about engines and the basics of fuel, brake, cooling and lubrication systems. Automotive YES partnerships with local automobile dealers gives you advance on service careers. ASE Certified.
  • Diesel Truck Technology - Repair and maintain truck, marine and industrial equipment by gaining employment skills in gasoline and diesel engines, power trains and hydraulics. Training can lead to national certification.
