EHOVE Career Center Visual Communication Design seniors Tom Frankart and Anna Noftz, both of Huron, won Honorable Mentions for their entries in the 2008 U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Junior Duck Stamp Art Competition. Their entries may have a chance to continue on to national competition.
Students could choose any one of about 42 duck, goose and swan species to draw as a part of the Conservation Through the Arts contest.
Both students are pursuing careers and training in the Visual Arts field. Frankart is currently employed at News-2-You® in Huron, an online current events newspaper.
Noftz plans to study industrial design after high school graduation. She adds this honor to her portfolio of winning designs. Last year, her bookmark design for the Ohio Department of Development’s Office of Energy Efficiency was chosen as a state winner. The artwork was among several winning designs printed on 200,000 bookmarks distributed in libraries throughout Ohio
EHOVE’s Visual Communication Design program trains students in a variety of graphic processes to develop promotional and illustrative materials. Student experiences include freehand and computer illustration, advertising layout and design, digital photography and color theory. Particular emphasis is placed on image creation and manipulation through computer software such as Adobe Photoshop. Instructors are Julie Eungard and Annette Stoll.
