A high school diploma or equivalent supplemented with two (2) years college level courses in business administration, management, human resources or a closely related field.  Alternatively, a high school diploma or equivalent training supplemented with at least five (5) years of higher-level administrative work experience in one or more of the above areas.

Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised, to organize and coordinate, to prioritize and self-initiate, and to manage administrative detail through the use of established high standards of procedure in a fast-paced environment.

Demonstrated understanding of organizational protocol and hierarchy; ability to handle stressful situations with tact and diplomacy.

Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.

Thorough knowledge of microcomputer hardware and software currently used (Microsoft products) and other common office equipment; keyboarding skills of at least 50 wpm.  Testing will be administered.

A valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record allowing insurability by the park district’s current vehicle insurance carrier under existing coverage provisions at the time of employment and thereafter. Candidates for employment may not have more than 4 total points (or equivalent penalty) issued by a recognized licensing authority for driving-related violations on their driving record at the time of employment.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, including thorough knowledge of proper grammar, punctuation and spelling.

Understanding of and ability to properly deal with confidential information.

Availability for occasional evening and weekend work as scheduled in advance and/or to work a flexible schedule.

A high degree of professionalism and good moral character with no history of serious criminal convictions.

Background and driving record checks, and substance abuse and skills testing may be required.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of Associates Degree in business, legal studies, management, human resources or closely related field.

Current and continuing status as an Ohio Notary Public or qualification as a Notary before the end of the probationary period.

Working experience, interest and/or education or training in public service, natural resources, environmental issues and/or outdoor activities.

Familiarity with the Ohio Revised Code and labor law and regulation, especially as it applies to park districts and government entities.
